From "A Fragile City"

This web site was initially established as part of the TRUST Transition Year Project. That project was a direct result of the reaction we got, especially from students and teachers, to television documentary A FRAGILE CITY about our work and represented a way of sharing our experiences and insights with anyone who is interested in what it means to be an outsider in our world.

WELCOME TO TRUST

"Daily we meet people who are outsiders in our world, so often misunderstood by society.

"This is why we established this web site and undertake education projects like the National Art Competition and Education Programme on the theme of the outsider. We want to share, especially with students and young people, the insights and experiences we have obtained through our hands on work about what it means to be excluded.

"We are a very small agency, which is perhaps why those who are not comfortable going anywhere else like to drop in to us and we do what we can for them. But we all have a contribution to make, even in a small way, by thinking about what it means to be excluded and how you can help to make your classroom, your school, your street, your community and society at large a place where everyone can feel important.

Thank you for visiting this site. We welcome your comments and reaction by email. However, our priority must be the people who come in to TRUST everyday so we may take a little time to reply. But we do hope this site helps you even a little to understand what it means to be an outsider in our world."

Not Just A Bed For The Night

"There are dozens of Dublin's and we all think we know our own. But sometimes we can be jolted into a realisation that we do not know our city at all. All around us there can move backwards and forwards people whose lives have a different heart beat, whose hopes and dreams and expectations are wildly far from our own."

MAEVE BINCHY from a foreword to the book NOT JUST A BED FOR THE NIGHT by Alice Leahy & Anne Dempsey about Trust and people who become homeless in Dublin
